Daryl Green was a current student of the UIUC Graduate School of Library and Information Science and part-time cataloger on the Quick & Clean Cataloging project in the Rare Book & Manuscript Library. He has taken full advantage of the courses offered in Special Collections and Rare Book during his coursework at Illinois. Daryl also has a M. A. in Medieval Studies from the University of York and a B.A. in English, with a concentration in Classics and Medieval studies from Kent State University. Daryl previously worked at York Minster Library (York, UK) as a Library Assistant and Cataloguer before coming to Illinois to pursue his MLIS.
Because of Daryl’s academic interests in late Medieval to early modern manuscript and book production, history of science and knowledge, and in paleography and early printing, rare books cataloging provided daily opportunities to learn and to apply his knowledge for real-world benefit. Daryl is also interested in the field of Rare Books librarianship and in public outreach and education within the Rare Books community.
Daryl left Illinois in 2010 to join the University of St. Andrews Library as Rare Books Cataloguer and hopes to become active in the Rare Books and Special Collections librarian community in the U.K.
